Instrumental Music Camps:
Week 1 (Ages 6 - 16): July 31 - August 4, 2017 from 9am - 1pm
Week 2 (Ages 6 - 16): August 7 - August 11, 2017 from 9am - 1pm
Camp Description: ($250 per week)
The summer music camp offers students the chance to have a fun, creative, team-oriented experience while making music! Students will learn fundamental elements of music, play music games, rehearse two songs as a band, compose one original song, and have a final performance at the end of the week. This camp focuses on accomplishing musical objectives, having a hands on experience and being creative! Each class is guided by a University trained music instructor. All ability levels welcome! Students are free to bring their own instruments. Guitars, basses, drums, and keyboards can be provided. If other instrument, please bring to camp. Students are asked to bring a snack for themselves. Lunch will not be provided.
Lead Instructor: Steve Pae
Steve Pae is a multi-instrumentalist, producer, & recording engineer. He has been teaching guitar, drums, piano, ukulele, music theory, & songwriting for over ten years. Steve holds a Bachelor's of Music with a Concentration in Guitar Performance from George Mason University & Recording Arts Certification from the Omega School of Recording Arts. He enjoys teaching & performing classical music, folk, rock, jazz, & pop standards. Steve is great with students of all ages & abilities. He has experience teaching children with autism & ADD/ADHD.
Middle School Students (6th-8th grade): July 10 - July 14, 2017 from 1 - 4:30pm
Elementary School Students (1st-5th grade): July 17- July 21, 2017 from 1 - 4:30pm
Sample Weekly Camp Schedule: ($150 per week)
Day 1- Improv and Preparing for Auditions
Day 2- Musical Theatre
Day 3- Monologues and Scenes
Day 4- Commercials
Day 5- Mock Auditions and Mini Performance
Instructor: Nancy McGovern
Nancy McGovern attended high school at the Florida School of the Arts & received a BFA from Florida State University. After graduation, she moved to DC to intern at the Kennedy Center with the Alliance for Arts Education. Over the past 25 years, she has performed with dance & theater companies in the DC area. She has been a member of Screen Actors Guild for more than 20 years working in commercials, industrials, TV, film, & print in the Washington-Baltimore area. She is the owner of “Dance To You,” a company that has been providing creative movement, tumbling & musical theater classes to preschools for over 25 years. Nancy continues to study both acting & dance.
