Two Week Session July 20 & 27
Thursday mornings, 11:15am - 12:30pm
This class is designed for those who are new to yoga or who have physical challenges with flexibility due to injury, surgery or other physical limitations.
It will feature restorative yoga along with quiet meditation for stress reduction. Restorative Yoga includes blankets, blocks and bolsters to support the body in resting postures that offer similar benefits gained by a more active yoga class.
Erika integrates (breathing practice) pranayama as a way to activate the bodies immune and autonomic calming responses.
Please bring a yoga mat, 2 large towels and 2 yoga blocks.
Erika Maxwell has been practicing yoga for 25 years. She is committed to mindfulness meditation and has experienced many aspects of yoga, including Restorative Yoga, in a committed community of practitioners. Erika is in Restorative Yoga training with Denise Moore (ERYT 500) though Moore Yoga . Erika is also an artist and recalls that creating art is as necessary for her as breathing. After graduating Magna Cum Laude from Virginia Commonwealth University with a BFA, she used her strong imagination and creative thinking as a graphic designer for over 25 years. When she is not painting you can find her sipping tea in the sunlight, hiking with her dog, kayaking in the Potomac river, reading a good book by the fire or laughing with her children.
