Daily Scripture Readings & Reflections

  1. SundayJohn 1:1-2 (The Message) The Word was first, the Word present to God, God present to the Word. The Word was God, in readiness for God from day one.

Reflection: What do these verses say to you about the relationship between God and the Word? Where, if anywhere, do you see yourself in this relationship? Pause for two minutes naming the things for which you are grateful and take a moment to give thanks to God.

Breath Prayer: Inhale: Forever I am… Exhale: loved by God

  2. Monday: John 1:14a (The Message) The Word became flesh and blood, and moved into the neighborhood.

Reflection: Describe your neighborhood? How far does it extend? What does it mean for you that “The Word” has moved into the neighborhood? Where  have you seen “The Word”  in your neighborhood? Pause for two minutes naming the things for which you are grateful and take a moment to give thanks to God.

  3. Tuesday:John 1:14b (The Message) We saw the glory with our own eyes, the one-of-a-kind glory, like Father, like Son. Generous inside and out, true from start to finish.

Reflection: Where, if ever, have you seen “with your own eyes” the God who meets you in Jesus? John the writer described such a sight as “one-of-a-kind glory”. If you have ever seen the presence of Jesus, how would you describe it? What does it mean to live “generous inside and out, true from start to finish”? Reflection:“Jesus came near and spoke to them.” Jesus is with you in this very moment. What would you most long to hear him say to you? Sit quietly in Jesus’ presence now and listen as he speaks to your heart the very words you long to hear. Pause for two minutes naming the things for which you are grateful and take a moment to give thanks to God.
